A craft brewery that was mothballed during the pandemic is to relaunch after being aquired by new investors.
Speyside Brewery, in Forres, Scotland, was founded by former Top New Talent winner Seb Jones in 2012, but had to be closed briefly with the onset of the pandemic in 2020.
It is now set to relaunch from a bigger facility, also in Forres, after being snapped up by Urquhart Brothers, the investment company of Stuart and Richard Urquhart, who are part of the family behind the Gordon & MacPhail whisky business.
Jones will remain as MD with the acquisition.
“In larger premises with our equipment, recipes and passion, we will be targeting markets that I believe have always been under-served by beers from Speyside, and Scotland in general,” he said. “Servicing that and responding to our loyal local customers will mean we’ll be flat out from the get-go.”
