Linden — On Monday, Aug. 22, Linden City Council voted to approve establishing a commercial rehabilitation district in downtown Linden to make it possible for a business to apply for a tax exemption.
The district includes Linden Family Eye Care at 123 E. Broad Street, which is owned by Bryan and Gerianne Mulanix. Byran Mulanix is the community and economic development director in Linden.
The Commercial Rehabilitation Act of 2005 encourages the rehabilitation of commercial property by abating the property taxes generated from new investment for a period up to 10 years, according to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. Facilities that qualify include multi-family residential, commercial business enterprises or qualified retail food establishments.
