Dozens of businesses in Marshall County are among the first to receive COVID relief funds disbursed through the county this week, made available through the county’s online portal which launched earlier this year.
The Marshall County Commission launched its online portal June 1, which allowed small entities to apply for COVID relief funds made available through the American Rescue Plan. Businesses and nonprofits that saw a reduction in revenue of 20% or greater, who employed 50 people or fewer, were eligible to apply through the program.
Marshall County Administrator Betsy Frohnapfel said that the first month of the portal’s operation, which went live on June 1, saw $461,824 in grant funding awarded to 30 businesses. Forty-five businesses had applied, and 11 are still having their data processed. Four were found to not be eligible.
