Industry groups are worried the timing of the memorial public holiday for Queen Elizabeth II will make things difficult for businesses, but economists say the extra day off will not have a lasting economic impact.

The break on September 22 is already proving to be a boost for some, with holiday spots and caravan parks seeing an uptick in bookings.
For Victorians, the day comes on top of the AFL grand final Friday holiday, creating a four-day long weekend.
Apollo Bay Holiday Park’s Bruce Flack said many people were already looking to make the most of the break.
“The phone’s certainly been ringing,” he said.
“We were probably 75 per cent full prior to the announcement. It certainly will have an impact.”
